Oman is one of the best countries for pharmacists, as it offers several benefits such as high salaries, good work-life balance and a tax-free income. This easy exam can help you get a job and visa in Oman.

Oman Prometric Exam Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Omani Examination for Pharmacists, a pharmacist must meet the following criteria:

In pointers, the eligibility to appear for the exam is mentioned below

  • A pharmacy degree (B.Pharm, PharmD or M.Pharm)
  • Registration as a pharmacist in home country
  • A continuous experience of 3 years or more in a hospital or retail pharmacy without any gap
  • Registration as a pharmacist in home country
  • No language requirements

 

Procedure for Oman Prometric

In this step, your credentials and documents are validated by the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB) and Dataflow Group. This is also known as the PSV procedure, and it is mandatory to be able to take the exam.
Register for the exam by scheduling an online test. After completing the Primary Source Verification (PSV), you will be provided with an Eligibility Number, which you have to use to book your test through the Oman Prometric website.
After clearing the exam, you must find a job in Oman, which you can find online from your home country. Post that, you need to get documents attested by the Oman embassy in your country and then you will be granted a visa.
When you reach Oman, your employer will sponsor your accommodation and food while you prepare for the viva exam. After passing the viva, you can get registered as a pharmacist in Oman.
When you complete your adaptation or internship, you must take another exam called the PRE in Ireland (Professional Registration Exam). You will be taking this exam alongside other pharmacists who graduated from Ireland. After this exam, you can get completed registration as a pharmacist in Ireland.
Either IELTS, TOFEL or OET is required to get registered in the Pharmacy Society of Ireland as a pharmacist.

Exam Format

The exam is conducted in MCQ format that contains questions from 4 sections, which are:
  • Basic Biomedical Sciences – 15 Questions
  • Pharmaceutical Sciences – 53 Questions
  • Social/Behavioral/Administrative Sciences – 30 Questions
  • Clinical Sciences – 52 Questions
The duration of the exam for 150 MCQs is of 3 hours.
Passing criteria: To be eligible for licensure a candidate must secure 60% in a Oman prometric exam for pharmacists that is 90 correct MCQs out of 150.
